Position: Experienced Cybersecurity Professional
Seeking an experienced cybersecurity professional for mentoring and guiding a student through various cybersecurity courses and projects.
Requirements:
- Experienced cybersecurity professional with preferable certifications such as Security+, CISSP, GSEC, SSCP, etc.
- Outstanding communication skills and proficiency in English.
- Strong teaching and mentoring experience.
- Advanced knowledge in Network Security, Cryptography, and Ethical Hacking
- Cybersecurity certification as mentioned below.
- Outstanding communication abilities.
- Teaching or training experience preferred but not essential
- Ability to break down complex cyber security concepts.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years' practical experience in cybersecurity, preferably with recognized companies.
Proficiency with various cybersecurity tools and programming languages.
Expertise in identifying and mitigating risks, threats, and vulnerabilities.
Technical Skills:
Hands-on experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools.
Proficiency in Python, Linux, and SQL.
Knowledge of CIA Triad, governance, risk analysis, compliance, and business continuity planning.
Familiarity with Linux and Windows server configuration, Active Directory, network architecture, operations, and security.
Experience in areas such as Wireshark, email security, wireless security, cryptography, port scanning, cloud security, and virtualization.
Proficiency with tools like Splunk, Burp Suite, Metasploit, Zenmap, etc.
Certification experience in Security+ and CEH.
Additional Assets:
Knowledge and experience with Google Cloud Platform.
Responsibilities:
Setting realistic schedules, deadlines, and engagement plans.
Conducting check-in meetings, tracking progress, and facilitating topic-specific discussions.
Mentoring the student through cybersecurity courses and projects.
Setting up projects similar to projects you have previously worked on, to teach the student how to solve similar problems and build similar projects.
Providing guidance, answering questions, and teaching industry best practices.
Ensuring the student stays on track with the schedule and assisting in project presentations and assignments.
Fully preparing the student for CompTIA Security+ certification.
More Role Details:
The role will begin with setting a realistic schedule, deadlines, and finalizing an engagement plan for a list of courses the student will enrol in, as well as a list of projects you will set up for the student to complete based on your cybersecurity experience. Once learning starts, you will be responsible for conducting check-in meetings, answering cybersecurity-related questions by the student, tracking learning progress and ensuring timeliness on schedule items and deadlines (lectures, assignments, projects, etc), and facilitating topic-specific discussions, a weekly meeting will be held to recap all work done with the student during the week. Mentoring the student through cybersecurity courses and projects will be the key aspect of the role. Additionally, you will provide guidance, answer questions, and teach industry best practices in cybersecurity. Ensuring the student stays on track with the schedule and assisting the student in preparing project presentations and assignments as requested. Your ultimate goal will also be to fully prepare the student for CompTIA Security+ certification.
Contract Details:
Hourly contract with an expectation of 2-12 hours per week.
