Hi! I'm Jacob Gaffke, a game developer and web3 hackathon winner based in the United States. I first learned how to program when I was 13 years old, and ever since, programming and game development have been a personal hobby of mine. I am a very creative individual who is always coming up with new ideas and projects to work on, and I am capable of getting a large amount of work done in a very short amount of time. Ash Magnum is a humorous turn-based strategy game centered around an action hero traversing Count Dorkula’s castle and killing vampires. It was submitted to the Pirate Software Game Jam #15. The gameplay consists of a turn order that switches between the player and enemies. During the player’s turn, they may take one move action and one ability action for each character, and characters cannot move after using an ability. When the player’s turn ends, each enemy takes a move and ability action themselves, focusing on dealing the most damage from the farthest range possible to the closest character. The game implements various algorithms including the A* algorithm for pathfinding and the symmetric shadowcasting algorithm for field of vision. Enemies also have an algorithm for their AI that cycles through all possible positions they can move to/use an ability from and chooses one based on a scoring system.

Darkcrawl is a turn-based roguelike dungeon crawler with a charming pixel art aesthetic. Players can choose from five distinct classes, each boasting unique attributes and skill trees tailored to different playstyles. As they delve into the dungeon's depths, they must face a variety of formidable enemies and collect an array of powerful items. Each class offers its own strengths and weaknesses, ensuring a diverse and engaging experience for every player. Despite the traditional turn-based combat system, Darkcrawl offers fluid movement by calculating each turn while the player is moving. Both players and enemies operate within a limited field of vision, adding a layer of stealth to each encounter. Players can discover and utilize a variety of items, including swords, bows, wands, armor, and potions. Collecting these items and gaining experience is crucial for survival as you strive to avoid the many ways to meet your end in the dungeon.

Tatami is a roguelike dungeon generation algorithm that creates a multi-floor dungeon layout from a series of randomly oriented, interconnected rectangles. The library attempts to provide many of the common features found in roguelikes, such as stairs, teleporters, items, enemies and traps. It is intended to be used as a base upon which a fully featured game can be built on. The project has over 1,000 downloads on crates.io and 6 stars on GitHub. It is being used in my game Darkcrawl.
