Project Title:
Design of Modular Steel and Timber Homes (Eurocode 3 Compliant) – Full Structural Design and Certification
Project Description:
We are seeking a structural engineer or design firm to assist in the design and certification of modular homes for a project in Ireland. The goal is to create modular units that can be:
• Easily joined to form larger buildings.
• Constructed in-house with minimal site work required upon delivery.
We require full compliance with Irish building regulations and Eurocode 3 (EN 1993) for steel structures.
Scope of Work:
1. Design Requirements:
• Structural design of 3-4 modular home sizes.
• Use of box steel framing and timber for structural elements.
• Incorporation of LGS (Light Gauge Steel) by mid-next year (LGS forming machine already ordered).
• Design must allow for seamless joining of units to create larger spaces.
• Structural loads, wind ratings, and insulation must align with Irish weather conditions.
• Provide 3D CAD models and detailed fabrication drawings.
2. Fireproofing Advice:
• Recommend minimum fireproofing ratings for steel frames to meet Irish regulations.
• We handle spray-on fireproofing in-house, so the focus is on advising the appropriate standards.
3. Sustainability Focus:
• Design for non-concrete foundations (e.g., ground screws or similar solutions).
• Emphasis on Scandinavian-style cladding and aesthetic finishes.
4. Certification Requirements:
• Provide structural compliance certificates for the designed modular units.
• Certification for an existing demo modular home currently in our possession.
• Assist in obtaining building compliance certificates for future designs.
5. Long-term Collaboration:
• We seek a long-term partner for ongoing design and certification work. Competitive pricing and high-quality deliverables will lead to further contracts.
Deliverables:
• Full architectural and structural plans for 3-4 modular units.
• Eurocode 3 compliant designs for steel connections (bolted/welded).
• Fireproofing guidelines and material recommendations.
• 3D Models (Revit, Tekla, or Vertex BD preferred).
• Structural analysis reports and building compliance certificates.
• Assistance in certifying our demo modular home.
Ideal Candidate:
• Experience in modular construction or prefabricated steel/timber homes.
• Familiar with Irish building regulations and Eurocode 3.
• Proficiency in Tekla, Revit, Vertex BD, or similar CAD/BIM software.
• Background in sustainable design and non-concrete foundation systems.
Budget:
• Open to competitive bids – looking for the best balance of experience, cost, and quality.
Timeline:
• Initial design phase – 4 to 6 weeks.
• Certification of existing demo unit – ASAP.
How to Apply:
Please submit:
• A brief overview of relevant experience.
• Examples of previous modular or steel construction projects.
• Estimated timeline and cost breakdown.
