I am currently a student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics at the Faculty of Sciences at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) located in Mexico City, where I currently live.
I was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
I decided to study for a degree in mathematics when I discovered what the degree was like, as I had been taught math my entire life by simply memorizing it. They never explained the ideas and development behind each mathematical object, making the learning process tedious and boring. But when a student from the math department approached me to explain the ideas behind some concepts such as sets, numbers, or derivatives, it was easier and more enjoyable to remember all of this because I felt like I had come to these ideas myself and made them a part of me. Since then, when I explain a mathematical concept, I like to tell the reasons behind the ideas and where they come from, so it doesn't feel like you just have to memorize the concepts.
I can teach math in both English and Spanish on topics ranging from kindergarten, Elementary, Middle, and High School, as well as college subjects including Algebra, Euclidean Geometry, Analytic Geometry, Differential and Integral Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Set Theory, Mathematical Logic, among other areas of mathematics.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely, Jorge Solis
