Contest Brief

I'm looking for a talented illustrator to create character designs for my children's books.
The characters will need to be consistent throughout as they will appear in future stories and books.

The look and feel im trying to capture will be in a similar style of the characters in the books of Roald Dahls, David Walliams and jk Rowling. (Some examples I’ve included in images )

I eventually want to create a full family of characters that will appear and star in future stories / books:

The family will consist of:
Grandad Joe, he’s 80
Grandma Tilly she’s 77,
Dad David is 55
Mum Jenny she’s 53,
Son Max he’s 12
Daughter Amber she’s 10
Dog called Phyllis she’s a
Jack Russell
I will give you a character familiarisation for each one but
FOR NOW I WISH TO ONLY DESIGN DAD AND SON aka (DAVID & MAX)

I have attached a copy of my first story (The secret of the dragonfly wings),
with the main characters being Dad and Son

My story has copyright and i also own intellectual property, but I have trust in you reading this and come up with some ideas and keep confidential which we have to do via Freelancer rules anyway.

I have included some Ai drawings which are obvious, but I don’t want Ai drawings and I have also included character style I do like from other authors as mentioned above

Character Description for Dad :

Age: 54
Character: a wise man who has run his own vets and worked hard for the local community
very well known as a quiet man who doesnt say much he listens lots but when he does say something it has much meaning
hes very kind loves gardening, its his escape and likes to walk his dog Phyliss shes a jack russel and very playful
he is married to his childhood sweetheart Jenny who he met at the school prom
They have 3 children Lewis hes 19 Max hes 12 and Amber shes 9 who he loves very much
he wants them to have as much fredom as they want, to explore have adventure and to learn things in life for themselves good and even sad he watches them grow and asks them what they did each day and what they learned then summarises what how and what theses feelings experiences and consiquences they experience really mean hopefully for the better but overall he wants them to have a good happy upbringing You can usually always find him in the garden or fixing things around the house

Charactor, he notices everything and wants to know what it is how it works and wants to do it
he has dreams to be like his dad and grandad
He loves climbing things, exploring places and is very dreamy and has a great imagination
he wants to find the best things in life make his family proud but always getting up to mischeff
sometimes getting in trouble by not realising the danger or consiquences to things he does but at the end of the day he tries to do whats right naughty but nice boy

these descriptions are just to give you an idea of how i feel the characters are

I will want to see who comes up with the best illistrations and upon each story or book i write i want illistrations relating to the story and i shall pay seperately each time you draw a picture for each character and i hope to write many books

so in summary read the story and come up with your illistrations best tou can as this will be a competition the real money will be in all the drawings i will commision you to do for future stories and books
