Job Title: Podcast Producer (Recording & Editing) – Project-Based

Location: Idaho Falls, ID (Local candidates preferred)

Project Fee: $14.50/hour, estimated $1,131 - $1,508 for 78-104 hours

About the Project: We’re launching "Atomicxs," a Spanish-language science podcast dedicated to making STEM topics accessible and engaging for Spanish-speaking audiences. This 26-episode series will cover a wide range of science topics in a conversational, approachable style. We’re seeking a skilled podcast producer to manage recording and editing for the series over a two-month period, working closely with the host to produce polished, high-quality episodes.

Responsibilities:

- Coordinate Recording Sessions: Collaborate with the podcast host to organize and schedule recording studio time, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with the production timeline.

- Set Up and Operate Recording Equipment: Prepare, set up, and manage all recording equipment to capture high-quality audio, addressing any technical needs or adjustments as necessary.

- Edit Audio for Consistency and Clarity: Review, edit, and enhance each episode’s audio for clarity, consistency, and professionalism. This includes sound balancing, removing background noise, and refining transitions between segments.

- Integrate Musical and Sound Elements: Add approved music, sound effects, and any required intro/outro segments to enhance listener engagement while maintaining a cohesive audio experience.

- Ensure Quality Control: Conduct a final review of each episode to meet quality standards for volume, sound consistency, and pacing, delivering polished episodes ready for publishing.

- Manage File Organization and Storage: Organize and maintain audio files systematically, ensuring that files are backed up and accessible to team members when needed.

- Respond to Feedback: Incorporate feedback from the podcast host or project lead to ensure each episode aligns with the podcast’s vision and maintains a consistent style.

Qualifications:

- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated skill with audio recording and editing software (such as Adobe Audition, Audacity, or similar tools) and familiarity with podcast production equipment.

- Experience: Previous experience producing or editing audio content, preferably in podcasting or a similar field. Familiarity with the structure and pacing of podcasts is a plus.

- Organizational Skills: Strong ability to organize tasks, manage multiple recordings, and keep production on track within a deadline-driven environment.

- Problem-Solving Ability: Proactive approach to resolving technical or logistical issues that may arise during recording sessions.

Collaboration and Communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with the podcast host and other team members.

- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail in editing and quality control, ensuring a consistent and engaging listener experience.
