Optimize Queries to speed up site

I have a website called funpoll.com. On the site you can answer different questions. Once you've answered (clicked on an answer) it then logs your answer (via mysql database query) and then loads a result page for that particular question. When loading the results page it usually takes about 1.5 seconds to load, as you can see. When the site gets a lot of traffic that number can go up to around 10 seconds. I need someone to optimize the queries so the load time is <0.5 seconds.
