I know Nurzhan to be intelligent, honest, and hard working. I have rarely if ever met a more decent or fundamentally kind human being. I remain very proud of her work with me and everything I was able to accomplish with her assistance. Nurzhan’s support was particularly critical to the successful completion of MACAS' accreditation in my first year as head of the program and to the translation of the flood of paper we compiled in support of this process. Nurzhan spent countless hours helping me assemble the final report and its supporting materials, often well past midnight, in the middle of a pandemic. She is extremely proficient in navigating ministerial requirements for MACAS and getting student documents and diplomas approved. She is far more skilled than I am in building interpersonal relationships with students and in assisting them with housing, paying bills, and managing AUCA bureaucratic requirements. I would not have been able to navigate the program as efficiently without her skilled assistance. She was invaluable to MACAS.

I have worked with Nurzhan since 2019 in my capacity as the Director of the Central Asian Studies Institute (CASI) at AUCA and as the former head of its Master of Arts in Central Asian Studies (MACAS). She served as the Office Manager in MACAS in addition to helping with various CASI grants and events. I know Nurzhan to be intelligent, honest, and hard working.
