We are seeking a talented illustrator to create approximately 20 whimsical - surreal illustrations for a children's picture book (10 spreads - 10 single.) We also need a cover. This book gently blends fantasy and realism with a story about a magical fish who brings hope to a town. The book is centered around a town pond so the illustrations will need to capture the excitement and wonder of various outdoor scenes.
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Proven track record in children's book illustration
- Strong portfolio showcasing whimsical surrealism
- Ability to depict outdoor scenes with creativity and detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Original drawings like watercolor/Ink
- Ability to create a larger than life Koi fish, a grandfather and grandson and lots of townspeople. The illustrations should primarily convey a magical and awe-inspiring mood.
We hope to vet 2-3 illustrators by providing the 400-word story and asking for a sample creation.
