Word count: 83,700 to 83,900 Section B: Proofreading service Service overview: Proofread a printed proof copy of my novel, Y (Volume 1), ("Book"), including writing the changes needed to fix grammatical errors, spelling inconsistencies, formatting errors, and incomprehensible words and sentences. Subsection A: Your qualifications and experience Part I: Must-haves 1. A female proofreader with over 15 years of experience in proofreading 2. A meticulous reader with an eye for details 3. An effective communicator 4. A bachelor's degree (or above) in English literature 5. An achiever with a solid track record of delivering assigned tasks on time 6. Someone resides within 30KM radius of Chatswood, NSW, Australia Part II: Nice-to-have 1. Someone has worked in a traditional publishing house 2. Someone has published a fiction with over 80,000 words. Subsection B: Project tasks 1. Write the following to fix the errors in the Book using a black pen: a. Grammatical errors such as spelling mistakes, punctuation errors, etc. b. Spelling inconsistencies c. Formatting errors such as spacing errors, indenting mistakes, text formatting errors, etc. d. Incomprehensible words and sentences 2. Email me a succinct project status update every Monday during the project, including the following: a. The number of pages you have completed proofreading b. Your new estimated completion date 3. Attend a 1.5-hour in-person handover meeting. Subsection C: Collaboration approach 1. I shall have the Book delivered to your nominated delivery address. 2. I shall organise a 1.5-hour in-person handover meeting. The purpose of this meeting is for you to hand me the Book with your comments and for us to discuss your suggested improvements at a high level. You shall email me the key improvement areas in bullet point format (one example for each point) 3 business days before our handover meeting. I will buy you food and drinks during the handover meeting. 3. You shall email me your project completion status (e.g. I have completed proofreading pages 1 to 200 and made comments as defined in the scope) and the new estimated project completion date every Monday during the project. Subsection D: Key project dates 1. Planned start date: Tuesday, 22 October 2024 2. Planned completion date (the date you complete proofreading the Book): Friday, 22 November 2024 3. Planned handover meeting date: Any date from Monday, 25 November 2024 to Friday, 29 November 2024 Subsection E: Project budget The total project budget is AUD 500, including GST. AUD 400 will be paid in cash at the handover meeting. The remaining amount of AUD 100 will be transferred to your nominated bank account 7 business days after the handover meeting should your proofreading service be at least of the same quality, if not higher than that you provide during your bidding. A tax invoice is not required. Subsection F: Bidding process 1. You shall message me your Request For Information via Freelancer by 9 PM AEST on Sunday, 29 September 2024. Please message me only if you satisfy all the must-haves listed above. 2. I shall send you via Freelancer an excerpt (around 500 words) in PDF format from the Book within 1 day after I receive your Request For Information. This excerpt will serve as a test of your proofreading skills. 3. You shall proofread the excerpt and send me the excerpt with your hand-written comments ("Submission") via Freelancer within 3 business days after you receive the excerpt. 4. I shall review the Submission and message you the next steps via Freelancer within 2 business days after I receive the Submission. 5. I shall organise a 1-hour in-person interview. I shall buy you coffee during the interview. 6. I shall email you the outcome of your bidding by Monday, 14 October 2024.
