AWS-Based Dynamic QR Code Management

Project Overview: We are looking to develop a robust, scalable system that allows the generation and management of dynamic QR codes hosted on AWS. The system should allow for dynamic URL updates without regenerating QR codes. The final solution will include QR code generation, storage in S3, dynamic URL redirection using AWS Lambda and API Gateway, and URL management using DynamoDB. Objective: To create a system that generates static and dynamic QR codes, stores them in AWS S3, and allows dynamic redirection via AWS services. We want the ability to update the destination URL of a QR code through an administrative interface or backend database. Project Requirements Core Features: QR Code Generation: The system must generate QR codes programmatically based on input (URL or identifier). QR codes should be in standard image formats (PNG or SVG). Generated QR codes should be automatically uploaded and stored in an S3 bucket. AWS S3 Hosting: All generated QR codes must be stored in a public AWS S3 bucket. URLs for accessing the QR codes should be accessible via a public link (e.g., [login to view URL]). Dynamic URL Redirection: Set up an API Gateway and AWS Lambda to handle dynamic redirection. The API Gateway should map URLs like [login to view URL]{code}. AWS Lambda must check the DynamoDB table to retrieve the correct URL for redirection. If a URL is updated in the backend, the next scan of the same QR code should redirect to the new URL without the need to regenerate the QR code. DynamoDB for URL Management: Store QR code mappings (e.g., code1 -> [login to view URL]) in a DynamoDB table. The system should allow for CRUD operations (Create, Read, Update, Delete) on URL mappings. Ensure fast retrieval of URL mappings for redirection. Dashboard / Admin Panel (Optional): Provide a simple web-based interface for managing QR codes and updating the destination URLs. Admin users should be able to: Add new QR code mappings. Update the URL for an existing QR code. Delete QR code mappings if needed. The dashboard should have authentication and security measures. Tracking and Analytics (Optional): Use AWS CloudWatch to log all QR code scans. Record basic details such as timestamp, IP address, and User-Agent for each scan. Provide a report or simple view of analytics in the admin panel (if implemented). Additional Features (Optional): Security: Set up secure access controls for the S3 bucket (e.g., public read-only). Implement HTTPS/SSL for secure API communication through API Gateway. Error Handling: Graceful handling of errors, such as if a QR code mapping is not found. Redirect to a default page or display a custom error message if no URL is mapped to a scanned QR code. Deliverables: A working AWS-hosted system with: Python scripts for generating QR codes. S3 bucket for hosting QR codes. API Gateway and Lambda for URL redirection. DynamoDB for storing and managing QR code-to-URL mappings. Optional: Dashboard for managing URL mappings and QR code analytics. Complete source code and deployment documentation. Testing and debugging to ensure the system functions correctly. Technical Requirements: Tech Stack: AWS (S3, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, CloudWatch). Python (for QR code generation and backend scripting). Optional: React/Node.js for the admin panel (if implemented). Scalability: The system should be built using AWS serverless architecture to ensure scalability. API Gateway and Lambda should be able to handle multiple QR code scans simultaneously. Documentation: Provide deployment instructions for replicating the system on another AWS account. Clearly document how to update URLs and add new QR codes. Security: Follow AWS best practices for securing S3 buckets, API Gateway, and Lambda. If a dashboard is developed, it must include authentication (AWS Cognito or other). Qualifications: The ideal candidate/team will have: Experience with AWS serverless architecture (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB). Strong Python development skills. Experience with S3 and storing media assets. (Optional) Experience building dashboards or admin panels with authentication. Previous experience in building similar systems is a plus.
