We are seeking a skilled and reliable freelancer to assist with automating the upload and processing of PDFs using n8n and integrating the results into a Supabase database. The role involves working with both native PDFs and scanned PDFs requiring OCR (Optical Character Recognition).
Responsibilities:
PDF Handling:
Upload and process native PDFs directly.
Use OCR to extract text from scanned PDFs (image-based).
n8n Workflow Development:
Create or enhance workflows in n8n to automate PDF uploads.
Configure nodes to distinguish between native PDFs and scanned PDFs for appropriate processing.
Ensure OCR is applied only to scanned PDFs or PDFs containing images.
OCR Integration:
Use suitable OCR tools (e.g., Tesseract, AWS Textract, Google Vision, etc.) within the n8n workflow.
Extract text accurately from scanned PDFs and maintain formatting where possible.
Supabase Integration:
Ensure processed PDF data is uploaded to Supabase.
Configure Supabase to store both raw text data and metadata (e.g., file name, upload date, source, etc.).
Testing & Optimization:
Test workflows to ensure reliability and accuracy of uploads and OCR text extraction.
Optimize processes for scalability and speed.
Requirements:
Proven experience with n8n workflow automation.
Knowledge of OCR tools and their integration into workflows.
Familiarity with Supabase and database operations.
Strong understanding of PDF structures (native and scanned).
Ability to troubleshoot and debug workflow issues effectively.
Excellent communication skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Google Drive or AWS for file storage (optional).
Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python) to enhance workflows if needed.
Deliverables:
Fully functioning n8n workflow capable of:
Uploading PDFs (native and scanned).
Applying OCR where required.
Uploading processed data to Supabase.
Documentation outlining the workflow setup and usage.
