Basic Fitness App Test Design

I'm looking for a simple yet effective test design for a fitness app that primarily tracks workouts. The app will be manually data-driven, offline and simple data entry (slider for reps). These interactions will help us prepare for the design of a comprehensive app once this test version is running and being used by test users. Which will probably get assigned to the same team doing this app if it's done well.
The workouts will be provided and appear on a scheduled program.
Key Features:
- Manual Data Entry: The app will not have integration with wearable devices or voice commands, so the design needs to consider an interface that makes manual data entry as seamless as possible.
Ideal Skills:
- Experience in Android app development and design
- UI/UX design skills focused on manual data entry
The ultimate goal is to create a basic test app (UI might be ugly) that can serve as learning (app function and design) for a more complex and fully-fledged fitness app in the future.
