I am seeking a researcher in Vilnius, Lithuania, who can delve into historical documents from 1940 to 1990 for genealogy and family history purposes. The primary focus will be on uncovering our family's past through these historical documents.
Specifically I require research of hitorical NKVD files. I have the file reference numbers. For the individual family members. There will be approximately 10 files to be found, copied and translated. I anticipate one day to access files and one day to translate.
Ideal Skills:
- Proficient in historical research
- Familiar with archives in Vilnius
- Background in genealogical research preferred but not essential
- Fluent in Lithuanian, Russian and English
Please provide relevant experience and examples of similar projects you have successfully completed.
Hi,
I have ~10 years of experience in translations (mostly ENG into LT, but also from or to russian language). I could obtain the files assuming a proper information is provided. Copying the files in the archive is a paid service, anything prior to 1945 costs approximately 1.5 euro per page. I would expect this cost to be covered separately.
The translation part is hard to evaluate the cost since the amount and quality of text is unknown. Handwritten russian on poor quality paper could take some time and would cost more.
Let me know if you are interested in my proposal.
