The tool/script should work seamlessly on macOS (specifically on my MacBook Pro M1 Max) and produce accurate translations without disrupting the timecodes. Current Process (Time-Consuming): 1. Export English captions as a .SRT file from Final Cut Pro. 2. Open the .SRT file using TextEdit. 3. Copy English captions (including timecodes) and paste them into Google Translate for translation. 4. Duplicate the English .SRT file, rename it for the target language (e.g., [login to view URL]), and open it in TextEdit. 5. Manually delete the English captions (but keep the timecodes intact) and paste the translated text. 6. Repeat this process for all 85+ languages. Issues with Current Process: • Time-consuming: The process involves repetitive manual steps. • Timecode alterations: Google Translate often changes timecodes unexpectedly, requiring additional fixes. • File organization: Managing so many files manually is overwhelming. Regarding the points you've raised: to ensure that the timecodes are intact I can just parse the srt file appropriately and replace the text with the translation. The software seems pretty simple strucually, so there shouldn't be any issues even for a non-technical user, I can do multiple options like drag&drop or a menu to select files. Hello I've looked at your project and developped a script that's great as using a python library it can search for the text within the srt file and I'll translate it using a local AI, the accuracy is as good as using an API except that's free to use whereas with an Google Translate you would need to pay each time you would be using it making my solution economical and efficient. With Tkinter I've built a quick interface where you can select the file you want to translate and the folder you want thel to be translated to.
