Mengenal Keistimewaan Ibu Kota Timor Leste
Dili adalah ibu kota negara Timor Leste. Negara ini memiliki banyak hal yang menarik untuk dibicarakan.
Menurut buku Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial 3, Timor Leste dibentuk melalui referendum pada 30 Agustus 1999 dan memperoleh kemerdekaan pada 20 Mei 2002.
Apa saja yang membuat Timor Leste unik?
Keistimewaan Timor Leste
Timor Leste mempunyai ibu kota bernama Dili. Adapun keunikannya adalah sebagai berikut:
1. Dijajah
Meskipun Timor Leste dulu merupakan wilayah Indonesia, tetapi negara satu ini mempunyai latar belakang sejarah yang berbeda, terutama pada kolonialnya.
Pada 1509, pedagang Portugis tiba di Timor Leste. Seperti Belanda, pedagang tersebut mulanya datang dengan tujuan rempah-rempah.
Namun, di sana pihak Portugis justru membangun sekolah, ibadah, dan menyebarkan agama Katolik. Selain itu, bahasa Portugis juga menjadi bahasa sehari-hari di Timor Leste.
Hingga pada 1642, aktivitas dagang Portugis berubah. Pemimpin pasukan Topasses, Francisco Fernandes, mulai berekspedisi militer sampai berhasil menaklukkan raja-raja Pulau Timor.
2. Revolusi Anyelir
Revolusi Anyelir 1974 berasal dari adanya fakta bahwa tak ada tembakan yang dilepaskan. Orang-orang pun turun ke jalanan dengan tujuan merayakan akhir perang di Timor Leste.
Dalam kejadian tersebut, bunga anyelir diletakkan di seragam hingga moncong senjata. Dari peristiwa tersebut, rezim Portugis berubah menjadi demokrasi yang sangat berdampak pada perubahan sosial, ekonomi, kependudukan, kewilayahan, sampai politik di Timor Leste.
3. Operasi Seroja
Operasi Seroja dipicu saat Front Revolusi Kemerdekaan Timor Leste (FRETILIN) mengumumkan kemerdekaan atas wilayah tersebut. Sembilan hari setelahnya, Presiden Soeharto memerintahkan Indonesia untuk melakukan invasi dan menganeksasi Timor Timur.
Pada tahun berikutnya, Timor Timur diresmikan sebagai provinsi ke-27 oleh Indonesia. Pendudukan Indonesia di wilayah tersebut ditandai konflik sangat keras selama beberapa dasawarsa antara militer Indonesia dan kelompok separatis, khususnya FRETILIN.
4. Referendum 1999: Referendum dilakukan pada 30 Agustus 1999 setelah Presiden Habibie menggantikan Soeharto. Orang-orang dapat memilih untuk menerima atau menolak otonomi khusus Timor Timur dalam NKRI.
Dalam sekilas diskusi tentang ibu kota Timor Leste dan berbagai keunikan negara ini, 78% penduduk Timor Timur, atau 344 ribu orang, memutuskan untuk menolak otonomi khusus NKRI.(Moses)
