I am currently doing an undergraduate thesis/paper (it's not a real thesis) and was hoping for some help because I am not well versed in working with data and regression analyses.
Background: I am discussing how Covid-19 has affected the energy sector. Basically, there's been a large shift away from non-renewable energy because many people are working from home, and the energy demand on a day to day basis has become more constant. Because it has become more constant, we are seeing a shift towards renewable energy- solar, wind etc.
Task: It is a pretty basic task- I do not think it will take too long. I would provide energy data and you would conduct a regression analysis to determine if there's a relationship between Covid-19 lockdowns at a state level on energy usage. I would like you to focus only on 4 states- Texas, New York (or NJ if the data is lacking), California, and Florida. Energy consumption has definitely changed due to Covid, so basically, I just want you to look into it.
Look into the following data: Wind, natural gas, coal, and solar by state.
Hopefully, we determine that there is a sizeable enough shift away from Coal and Nat gas and a shift towards Wind and Solar. Lastly, I would like a small write about your findings (hopefully it is consistent with what I am assuming). My paper will basically just talk about how Covid-19 lockdowns are pushing us towards renewable energy. If you would like, I can also cite your assistance with the model when I submit the paper.
