Family History Documentation

I'm seeking a freelancer to assist in compiling a comprehensive written document, a novel, or a movie-format script, chronicling my family's history. The story will center around my Mom, Carmel, the central character, and her relationship with a member of the North NJ mob from the 1960s through the 1990s. My mom was the "Gumad" (mistress) to a successful bookie who went by the name of Billy-boy. Bill was married and stayed married during their time together. Bill made a lot of money during this time and employed several family relatives and friends, and my mom spent the money freely on clothes, shows, parties, gambling, and more. I was an only child, and at times in my early life it seemed as if life was one party after another interspersed with arguments, distrust, etc. This document will be: - Organized in a chronological order - Including a timeline of major events - Weaving in personal stories and anecdotes - Complemented with pictures I have written several disjointed sections to my proposed novel/screenplay but work is needed to flush it out, organize it, add details, add color, add content etc. Here's and example: ___________ Carmel This a true story of my Mom's life as a Mafia Princess in the 1960s to the 1990s. My mom was married shortly after WW2 and moved to a 1st-floor apartment in a house shared with other relatives in Newark. She was 19 and 20 when I was born, her only child, and divorced when she was 27. I believe she lead an interesting and emotion-filled life that fits in well as relates to Soparno's story, to the the mafioso life. This time told from the point of view of the woman who experienced the highlights and pain of being the girlfriend "Gumod" to a mafioso. My mom supplied the excitement, Billy Boy the money. And for 30 years, with ups and downs, it was a party-all-the-time atmosphere. Late 50ies to early 60ies: She was very pretty and young and so attracted a lot of male attention. She also wanted to enjoy the high life. Most of the men attacked to her could not supply that. She also had a big circle of friends and relatives Her brother Carmine “Junior” his first wife Gayle, Stella and Angelo “Winks”, Stella's brothers … All-night card games, for money, were a weekly occurrence. I'd typically tag along play with my cousins and fall asleep in front of the TV only to be wakened at 4 or 5 AM to go home. Mom and Dad played a weekly card game with friends. Matty an Marge's house with William “Billy Boy” and his wife Lucky. Bill was a mid-level Mafioso with a winning personality and lots of money to spend. Bill was from the Silver Lake section of Bellville NJ. Bill's boss was Angelo “Gyp” DeCarlo of Mountainside NJ and The Four Season's backer. Bill knew members of the four seasons and also ... After the divorce Billy Boy, still married, to come around. This was the arely 1960s. I was just reunited with my mom after spending serveral years with my father's sister Helen and her family. My mother and Bill “dated” for > 30 years. I believe he really loved my mom and loved the exciting party-all-the-time lifestyle she created with his money. I can remember him handing wads of cash to my mom. She'd count it out in front of him to make sure it was what was promised One of Bill Boy's associates, and closest friends, was Tommy “Cowboy” Cuomo (related to Mario and Andrew). Tommy was also a bookie and also owned the bar franchise at the Belmont Tavern on Bloomfield Ave. On several occasions, Bill hinted at his experiences in the mob. Including visiting Cuba in the late 50ies; being present when mob stools were “roughed up”. Carmel gets arrested Bill sometimes used our Clifton NJ apartment on Day st as a place to receive and send calls from this “team”. The feds got on to this and bugged our phone line. Billy Boy went away for awhile. But the best and funniest was the arrest of my Mom. This was more than she bargained for. Fortunately, she got the record expunged. Al's Tavern in the early70's Bill along with one of his business partners Larry Day purchased Al's tavern on Bloomfield Ave in Bellville. Of course, the deed was in my mom' and Larry's wife's name since neither Bill Larry could chance an audit. Larry Day was a wise guy's wise guys. Mean and tough, ready to beat up even kill anyone who stood in his way. I found Larry's daughter to be attractive and I tried to get to know her. Quickly, my Mom told me to stay away from her knowing what a mean SOB Larry was. A hit on Larry They owned the tavern for approx 3 years until Larry was found dead with a bullet in the back of his head in the old Charms candy factory on Bloomfield Ave. As far as I know no one has been found guilty of the murder. Wiring money to Vegas My mom loved the gilts and glamor. A week in Vegas to see Sinatra or whomever and gambling were the ultimate. Of course, funded by Billy Boy. And a near-infinite supply of money Gambling loses? No problem Billy Boy would wire more funds. Shore House Maria Dr, Toms River. Purchased for $30k in the early 70ies and redecorated and expanded my my mom. Bill kept his boat there. Wild parties with more food and drink than could be consumed. In particular, a writer interested in mafia-related shows like Good Fellows or The Sopranos. The story is meant to be light-hearted, even comical in sections. The ideal freelancer would have excellent writing skills, a knack for storytelling, and the ability to work with visual materials. Experience in writing biographies or historical documents would be highly beneficial.
