Overview

We need clear, step-by-step visual guides for our taping instruction manuals. These visuals will accompany the text instructions and serve as easy-to-follow aids for users of Kinesiology Tape and Rigid Tape. The freelancer does not need prior knowledge of taping techniques—all necessary details are included here to ensure accuracy.

1. General Requirements

Style:

Simple black-and-white line drawings using clean, bold lines.

Avoid shading or gradients—focus entirely on clarity and simplicity.

Maintain a consistent visual style across all illustrations (e.g., same line thickness, body proportions).

Format:

Provide high-resolution images (300 dpi minimum) in PNG and vector-based SVG formats.

Deliver as individual image files for each step, as well as integrated PDF documents for each instruction set.

Labels and Annotations:

Use clear, sans-serif fonts (e.g., Arial or Helvetica) for annotations.

Number each step to match the written instructions.

Use arrows to indicate movement or direction of tape application.

Highlight specific areas of focus (e.g., the patella, Achilles tendon) with circles or labels.

Perspective and Composition:

Use clear perspectives (e.g., top, side, or angled views) that best display each step.

Show human figures or body parts in proportion and positioned naturally for context.

Highlight tape positions using dashed lines for guides and bold lines for applied tape.

Illustration Details:

Include simplified human figures or body parts with visible landmarks (e.g., patella, wrist joint).

Focus on clarity: clearly differentiate between steps using overlays or progressive diagrams.

Use zoomed-in sections if small details need to be emphasized (e.g., precise placement of a tape anchor).

2. Visuals for Kinesiology Tape Instructions

Ankles:

Draw a bare foot and ankle, labeling key parts (e.g., ball of the foot, Achilles tendon).

Show the first strip being anchored below the ball of the foot. Use an arrow to indicate wrapping direction around the arch and up the back of the ankle.

Show the second strip starting from the inner ankle and wrapping outward over the top of the ankle. Add small wave-like lines to indicate areas where the tape is stretched.

Show a final step with a short strip wrapping around the heel and securing to the Achilles tendon. Label each strip clearly.

Knees:

Draw a knee in a slightly bent position. Label anatomical landmarks (e.g., patella, thigh).

Show the "I" strip being placed vertically over the patella. Indicate that the anchors (ends of the tape) are applied with no stretch.

Illustrate the "Y" strips wrapping around the knee. Use arrows to show the curve of the tape around the sides of the knee.

Provide a final view showing all strips in place, labeling each one (e.g., "I" strip, "Y" strips).

Wrists:

Draw a neutral wrist position with visible landmarks, such as the back of the hand and wrist joint.

Show the tape being anchored on the back of the hand with arrows indicating movement across the wrist.

Illustrate the tape wrapping diagonally around the wrist and forearm. Use dashed lines for unstretched sections and bold lines for stretched areas.

Shoulders:

Draw a person’s upper body with the arm slightly extended outward. Label key points such as the shoulder joint and deltoid.

Show the first strip anchored on the top of the shoulder and running down the arm. Add an arrow to indicate tape direction.

Show the second strip crossing diagonally across the shoulder blade. Use dashed lines for placement guides.

Add a final view showing the short strip securing across the front of the shoulder. Label all strips for clarity.

3. Visuals for Rigid Tape Instructions

Ankles:

Draw an ankle positioned at a 90° angle. Label anatomical features such as the heel and Achilles tendon.

Show an anchor strip being applied around the lower calf. Ensure the tape is flat and snug without overlaps.

Show a "stirrup" strip being applied under the heel and up both sides of the ankle. Use arrows to indicate the direction of application.

Provide a final figure-8 wrap, showing the tape crossing over the foot and ankle. Clearly label all layers.

Knees:

Draw a slightly bent knee with dashed lines marking anchor points above and below the joint.

Show the anchor strips being placed firmly in position. Add arrows to indicate tape tension.

Illustrate diagonal strips being applied in a cross pattern over the patella. Use bold lines for applied tape and arrows for direction.

Include a final view showing all strips in place, clearly labeling each layer.

Wrists:

Draw a neutral wrist position with visible landmarks, such as the wrist joint and forearm.

Show anchor strips being applied around the forearm and hand, creating a secure base.

Illustrate cross strips being applied over the wrist joint with firm tension. Use arrows to indicate movement.

Provide a final image showing the completed taping with all layers neatly applied.

Shoulders:

Draw the upper body with the shoulder in a neutral position. Label key anchor points on the upper arm and chest.

Show the anchor strips being applied around the upper arm and chest. Ensure the tape lies flat and snug.

Illustrate cross-over strips being applied to stabilize the front and back of the shoulder. Use arrows to show the direction of application.

Add a final view showing all strips clearly labeled and positioned correctly.

4. Additional Elements

Important Tips Infographic:

Create a simple visual summary with icons:

Clock to indicate "Apply 30 minutes before activity."

Scissors for "Cut tape to desired length."

Hand for "Rub tape to activate adhesive."

Keep the infographic in black-and-white for consistency.

5. Delivery Timeline

Provide detailed drafts for review within 7 days.

Final versions to be delivered within 14 days after feedback.

6. Submission Details

Deliver files via email or shared drive.

Include a description of each visual for reference, matching them to the respective step in the instructions.
