Contest Brief

We are looking for a talented Product Designer to create eye-catching, premium packaging for our food moth traps. The traps are sticky pheromone pads that attract and capture moths. Each package will contain ten traps, and our primary sales channel is Amazon, so it’s crucial that the packaging design stands out and increases click-through rates. Below is a detailed brief of what we envision:

Project Scope

• Product: Food moth traps (10 traps per package)
• Sales Platform: Amazon (emphasis on high visibility and click-through)
• Target Audience: Consumers / Housewives looking for effective and aesthetically pleasing solutions for their pantry pest problems

Key Design Elements

1. Front Side of the Packaging:

• The text “Lebensmittel-Mottenfallen” (food moth traps) should be prominently displayed.
• Include visual representation of moths (potentially crossed out to emphasize the product’s effectiveness).
• An optional pantry or food storage illustration to visually indicate the typical setting where the product is used.
• Highlight that the package contains 10 traps that each last 8 weeks.
• Incorporate the provided brand logo prominently.

2. Sides of the Packaging (Left and Right):

• The brand logo and the text “Lebensmittel-Mottenfallen” should be displayed on the narrow sides.

3. Back Side of the Packaging:

• Include a step-by-step guide with four simple illustrations showing how to peel off the adhesive backing and set up the trap.
• A text-based instruction to accompany the visuals.
• Leave space at the bottom for:
• Barcode
• Expiration date

Design Requirements

• Aesthetics: The packaging should look high-quality and premium. This is not a low-cost product, so the design must reflect the reliability and professionalism of the brand.
• Amazon Thumbnail Optimized: The front design should be clear and striking, even when viewed as a small preview image in Amazon search results.
• Colors and Composition: Ensure the design stands out against competing products on Amazon.
• Moth Varieties: Optionally integrate the four main moth species typically encountered (for added detail).
