Seeking a videographer to film a workshop performance for a new musical.
The show is a new musical called Otto Weidt’s Brush & Broom Workshop for the Blind. The musical is inspired by the true story of Otto Weidt - a German blind man who protected his visually impaired Jewish workers from Nazi persecution. The show features “stealth” audio description, integrating visual information into lyrics, dialogue, and soundscapes.
This January, we’re producing a 2-week workshop, building toward two staged performances of up to an hour of excerpts from the piece to an invited audience. We’ll have a cast of 10 un-miked performers, accompanied by a pianist. There will also be an element of amplified sound design to the piece, but no costumes, lighting, or any other tech. We’re expecting no more than 100 people in the audience, but in all likelihood much fewer than that. The performance itself is designed as a proof of concept to attract producers and investors. There performance will be at Leeds Playhouse on 31st Jan 2025 at approximately 2pm.
The primary purpose of the filming is both for archival purposes, and for future promotional use. Ideally, we would love a multi-camera capture of the performance, as well as closer shots possibly taken during the morning dress rehearsal. We would love to then have a full edit of the show, as well as a 5-minute highlight reel, and a 1-minute trailer style cut. Depending on pricing, all of the above might be a bit beyond our budget, so it would be great to get a quote for a smaller production (e.g., choosing between the 5 min and 1 min cuts; not doing a close up shoot; having fewer edits; etc.)
