Gets rare start against lefty Abreu went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Thursday's 2-1 extra-inning loss to the Yankees. Impact Abreu, who rarely starts against left-handers, was a late addition to the lineup when Rob Refsnyder (wrist) was scratched. After Danny Jansen tied the game to lead off the fifth inning, Abreu singled and stole second base, putting himself in scoring position. He eventually reached third base on a wild pitch, but the Red Sox, who went 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position, couldn't get him home. Abreu is batting .185/.241/.278 against left-handers this season.
