Multi-vehicle crash involving Metro bus in Baldwin Hills leaves 9 injured

At least nine people were transported to the hospital following a multi-vehicle crash involving a bus in the Baldwin Hills late Thursday afternoon.

The crash occurred just before 4 p.m. Thursday near Crenshaw Blvd. and 39th St. 

At least four vehicles were involved, including a Metro bus, authorities said.

"This afternoon, a Metro bus (Line 210) traveling northbound on Crenshaw Boulevard near 39th Street was struck by a vehicle as part of a four- vehicle accident involving a reportedly intoxicated driver," Metro said in a statement.

"A bus operator and one passenger were transported to local area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, and 10 other passengers reported more injuries."

One of the vehicles involved flipped as a result of the crash, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters evaluated at least 14 people, including occupants from the bus and other vehicles, official said. According to the LAFD, three people were taken to hospitals in moderate condition, while six others were taken to hospitals in fair condition.

It is not clear how the collision occurred. 

The investigation is still ongoing.
