Driver suspected of DUI in Glendale crash

A driver has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a fatal crash in Glendale. The driver drove over the center divider, spun around and crashed into another car. The passenger in that car was killed and the driver was hospitalized.

GLENDALE, Calif. - A man in his 70s was killed in a suspected DUI crash in Glendale, authorities said Tuesday.

The crash occurred at 8:24 p.m. Monday on Glenoaks Blvd. at Elm Ave., said Glendale police.

The 23-year-old driver of a black BMW was driving westbound when he lost control of the vehicle, jumped the center divider and slammed head-on into a silver Honda that was driving eastbound on Glenoaks Blvd.

The man in his 70s, who was the passenger in the Honda died at the scene, the sergeant said. The driver, also in his 70s, was hospitalized with a broken leg and pelvis.

The BMW driver was also hospitalized with injuries, authorities said. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI.
