US 97 Blewett Pass in WA back open, wildfire still active at summit

U.S. Route 97 at Blewett Pass is back open after it was closed on Wednesday due to fire activity.

A 15-acre fire is still burning near the summit, and the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) announced some traffic revisions on the highway.

WSDOT says there will be flagger-controlled traffic with a pilot car at the summit, so drivers are asked to be patient and not pass other cars or pull over.

Fire crews are still working to put out the wildfire, which was recently determined to be human-caused. The exact cause of the fire is unknown.

Smoke may be visible to residents in the area of Kittitas Valley, Cashmere and Wenatchee. Drivers should use caution.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
