Police investigate deadly small plane crash in Auburn

Crews are responding to a deadly small plane crash in Auburn on Thursday afternoon.

Valley Regional Fire responded after a report of a plane that crashed into the building near 400 C Street Northwest around noon. 

The Auburn Police Department said that one person inside the plane died. Police said the person inside the plane was a man and the only occupant.

According to Valley Regional Fire, the plane crashed through the roof of the building, and it appeared that a majority of the aircraft went inside the building. 

There were people inside the building and they all evacuated. 

The building was damaged and there was no fire inside, officials said. 

A hazmat team was called to the scene due to a fuel leak. 

It's not known where the plane departed, but the location of the crash scene was about 5 minutes south of Auburn Municipal Airport.
