US 60 closed between Superior, Miami for blasting

Crews will be doing blasting work for the Queen Creek and Waterfall Canyon bridges replacement project from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 27 and 29. Drivers will need to detour onto State Route 177 and SR 77, which will add about 75 miles onto their commute.

The body of a missing child was found in San Carlos, Arizona. He was first reported missing on Saturday, July 27. A day later, the police chief said an investigation is underway after his body was found on Sunday.

The wind-driven Watch Fire is burning in San Carlos and has already scorched more than 500 acres. The fire started on Thursday, July 11, near downtown San Carlos and fire authorities say it's moving toward Peridot Siding and Old Moonbase.

Tonto Creek Bridge open for drivers in Gila County

The bridge over the Tonto Basin in Gila County is now open to the public. The area is prone to flooding during monsoon season, and in the winter when snow melts. Eight people have died in the past 30 years while trying to cross the creek during flooding. In November 2019, three children were swept away by raging water while riding in a truck trying to cross the flooded wash.

Excessive Heat Warning issued for Phoenix area

An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for the Phoenix area, and several Arizona counties, as temperatures could reach 114°F in some parts of the state this week.
