Leading Spanish Bank Expands and Enhances Service through Fortinet Secure SD-WAN

CaixaBank is a leading provider of retail banking services in Spain and Portugal. With a growing requirement for high-speed digital services and cloud applications across its regional branches, the firm realized that it was time to upgrade to an SD-WAN architecture. This would improve the customer experience and application response times while significantly reducing operating expenses.
Today, CaixaBank has deployed Fortinet Secure SD-WAN across approximately 5,000 branches, which it manages centrally through its FortiManager control console. The SD-WAN integrates with the bank’s FortiAnalyzer logging and analytics system, which it uses to power regulatory reporting and compliance processes. In addition, the bank has added wireless backup links using the FortiExtender wireless gateway to increase network resilience. FortiExtender has also enabled CaixaBank to upgrade its Mobile Banking Offices (a fleet of 21 air-conditioned buses transformed into mobile branches) from a traditional satellite connection to a full Fortinet wireless solution. With Fortinet, CaixaBank has been able to realize a low-cost and integrated networking and security solution on which its digital business can thrive.
