Features
CyberGhost is a straightforward, user-friendly VPN that boasts more than 126 server locations spanning 100 countries. It fully owns and manages its “NoSpy servers,” guaranteeing a truly anonymous online experience.
The servers are RAM-only, meaning they are stored using volatile memory instead of on hard disks. That means if someone, such as a government agency or law enforcement, tries to seize the servers from a physical location, they would face some serious hurdles. Why? Once the server is unplugged, the server data is erased.
Along with other names on this list, CyberGhost has a strict no-logs policy and engages in independent audits to confirm its commitment. While the company doesn’t allow copyright-protected P2P file downloads, it allows access to safe torrent sites for legal downloads.
Pricing
CyberGhost is on the pricier side of the providers we surveyed, with a monthly plan coming in at $12.99. Given that the number of devices you can use on this plan is limited to seven, that’s a bit disappointing. There is also no annual plan available.
That said, you can get a two-year plan, costing $56.94 for the first 24 months, plus two months extra thrown in on top for free. As usual, beware that the renewal price will likely be different from the introductory offer. One positive note: CyberGhost offers a 45-day money-back guarantee for subscriptions of six months or more, longer than any other provider we surveyed.
Customer Service
CyberGhost’s customer service can be reached on live chat 24/7. You can also contact the team by email or send a request using an online ticketing system. Unfortunately, we did see some complaints from users that the customer service can take a long time to respond and that the quality of service is subpar.
Reputation
CyberGhost has a solid reputation online, with more than four out of five stars across Trustpilot, G2 and Capterra. While there are upwards of 20,000 reviews on Trustpilot, there is less representation on the other two platforms, totaling less than 200 reviews total between the two. Given the lack of feedback, the overall ratings on these platforms may be less reliable.
