The new Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT)

by TRADOC

The ACFT is scientifically designed to transform Army physical fitness and training. Currently, the ACFT consists of 6 events: 3 Repetition Maximum Deadlift (MDL), Standing Power Throw (SPT), Hand-Release Push-Up (HRP), Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC), Leg Tuck (LTK), and 2-Mile Run (2MR). For Soldiers to be ready for the rigors of multi domain operations today and tomorrow, the Army has determined that Soldiers must possess the following physical components of fitness: power, muscular endurance and strength, speed, cardio endurance, balance, agility, flexibility, coordination and reaction time. The ACFT is the assessment for the physical component of the Army’s Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) System. Through this innovative new system, focusing on mind and body, the Army is dedicated to training Soldiers through physical readiness, appropriate nutrition, quality sleep, and other preventive care, to reduce injuries, be combat ready and live a healthier lifestyle.
