It's freezing cold and raining here in Gordon's Bay - and it's supposed to be summer! So a little cheery yellow won't go amiss :)

Botanical name: Leucospermum cordifolium.

Family: Proteaceae.

Taken in the Mountainside area of Gordon's Bay, Western Cape, South Africa.

Happy weekend !

Had a brief fishing trip up north this past weekend so was in their breeding territory - was hoping for something very unique, but sometimes, you need to photograph what is there and available!

Bealiba Station, 140 Birthday

Bealiba received it's railway, and civilized land transport, when the line was extended to St Arnaud, from Dunolly, in late 1878. A wooden station of a standard design was erected here, not only were offices included in the building, but also a residence for the station master.

My macro lens stopped working right before I was going to shoot this stuff. Had the idea(s) so shot for the theme anyway (once I had a working macro lens again.)
