Final Draft works on both Mac and Windows computers, and the.fdx file can be used on either platform.
- For Apple, Final Draft works on macOS 12 (Monterey) or higher.
- For Windows, Final Draft works on Windows 10 or higher and requires either an Intel or AMD processor.
- Final Draft does not work on Chromebooks.
You can install Final Draft on as many computers as you want. Two of these can be activated at any given time. You can activate two Macs, two PCs or one of each — it’s your choice.
Yes. Final Draft can be activated on two computers, and they can be either Windows or Mac. If you want to activate on a third computer, you will need to log out of one of the other computers first, as you may only use two activations at a time.
In order to use Final Draft, you must have internet access when you run the program for the first time. After you’ve signed in to Final Draft, online access is no longer necessary.

The standard license for Final Draft is intended for individual use. If you would like to buy multiple seats for your organization, we offer convenient site licenses, which give you additional control as an administrator. We have several options available:

No. Final Draft upgrades are always full installs, which do not need any previous versions on your hard drive. You do however need to have previously purchased an earlier version of Final Draft to qualify for an upgrade.
We are not subscription-based. You will own your version of Final Draft and you may use it as long as you run it on a computer that has a compatible operating system.
No – Final Draft 13 has a new store and log-in experience. If you purchased Final Draft before December 12, 2023, you will need to create a new store account to upgrade to Final Draft 13. This account will be tied to your email address instead of a Customer Number; you do not need your Customer Number to create an account. This will allow you to manage your purchases in the future, as well as reset your password independently without having to contact support.
If you have Final Draft 12 or earlier, you do not need to create a new account with the Final Draft website to use your existing software. You can continue to use the Customer Number provided at purchase. If you need help, please contact support.
To sign in to the software itself, simply enter the email address and password that you created at the time of purchase.
If you’ve forgotten your password, click Forgot password? at the sign-in screen. You will be sent an email with a link to a secure password reset portal.
Final Draft 13 uses a different copy protection system than older versions, and Customer Numbers and activation / deactivation are no longer part of the process. To activate, simply enter the email address and password that you created at the time of purchase.
