Catch the highlights of the flagship events from World Food Week! Watch the recorded World Food Day ceremony from 16 October and the Junior World Food Day School Assembly during the World Food Forum on 17 October, both held at FAO headquarters. Explore these inspiring events where leaders, food heroes, and advocates from around the world united for the World Food Day’s global call to action.
This year’s exhibit spotlights food as a human right, emphasized the need for accessible, nutritious, affordable, and sustainable food for everyone. As part of the exhibit, visitors chose a food action, snapped a photo and shared it on a live interactive photo wall—a global mosaic showcasing our collective effort to drive positive change. Visitors explored the Youth Corner, featuring fun SDG-themed learning activities and two new Children's Activity Books designed to inspire and educate young minds.
Students were also able to see a special exterior window display featuring actions for a food-secure future and inspiring stories of food heroes worldwide. And there's even more to see as the 80-1 Anniversary Countdown was launched!
As we celebrated FAO’s 79th anniversary on World Food Day, the 80-1 Countdown kicked off, marking the beginning of a journey toward FAO’s milestone 80th anniversary in 2025. A special 365-day countdown celebrating eight decades of achievements and innovation in food and agriculture with interactive activities for FAO Members, partners and employees. Throughout World Food Day week, a multisensory experience showcased FAO’s history in an interactive way, while also giving a sneak peek of the upcoming Food and Agriculture Museum and Network, set to open next year for FAO's 80th anniversary.
That’s not all! The ‘80-1 Anniversary Countdown’ installation was unveiled near FAO’s marble staircase, featuring key moments from FAO’s first decade. Starting in early 2025, a new decade will be revealed each month on different floors. Outside, a special illumination marked the beginning of this year-long celebration of action.
Around the globe, far and wide, join the World Food Day call to action with hundreds of events, from marathons and hunger marches to exhibitions, cultural performances, and concerts, all taking place in up to 150 countries.
