The evaluation focused on FAO SDG 14 related work from June 2016 to June 2021. It assessed: 1) FAO’s capacity to operate transformational change to meet the SDG 14 goals under the 2030 Agenda; 2) the organization’s contribution to the methodological conceptualization, testing, and roll-out of indicators under SDG14 for which it is custodian agency and 3) the relevance and effectiveness of FAO’s partnerships to enhance impact.

Significant improvements were noted in agricultural income, natural resource management, conflict management, and women's engagement. However, the absence of local private sector partnerships posed a sustainability risk. The evaluation provided eight recommendations to enhance future programs, emphasizing comprehensive value chain support, local partnerships, peacebuilding funding, and community-based monitoring.

The project was very relevant to the priorities of the Government of Mongolia ministries and veterinary practitioners in public and private sectors. Throughout the project implementation, the project's adaptability and flexibility played a pivotal role, successfully adjusting originally planned activities and budget to address emergency needs in the country. The effective management of disease outbreaks during the project further underscored its resilience and impact.

The evaluation found that the project is strongly aligned with national priorities, FAO's strategic objectives and the needs of Iraqi in peri-urban and rural communities. Recommendations include continued emphasis on value chain development, enhanced monitoring efforts, and further implementation of the HDP approach to ensure sustained project impact and resilience in a fragile context.

The project aimed to reduce rural poverty and greenhouse gas emissions by strengthening the technical, productive and business capacities of rural and Indigenous women and youth. It achieved its targets, surpassing the goal of increasing income among participating women and achieving 89 percent progress in the goal of reducing greenhouse gases by August 2023.

The project focused on creating an enabling environment for sustainable natural resource management in the Cabo Delgado and Zambezia provinces, engaging both government institutions and rural communities. The evaluation underscored FAO's key role in developing initiatives like the Forest Management Unit model and the Forest Information System, closely aligning with Mozambique's forestry needs.

The results of the evaluation indicate that the project began a priority process to combine productive, environmental and health approaches in relation to strengthening pesticide management. The recommendations focus on compliance with the work plan and monitoring the elimination proposal, and updating and strengthening the regulatory framework.

The project focused on improving the management and protection of marine biodiversity and promoting the ecosystem approach to fishing. The evaluation highlighted the high relevance and coherence of the project, as well as the institutional strengthening and development of technical capacities. The creation of synergies, instances of dialogue and high-quality lasting results also stands out.

The project’s objective was to promote the restoration of degraded landscapes in the forest-steppe and steppe zones of Ukraine by scaling up integrated natural resources management practices. Despite challenges caused by the ongoing war, the project’s activities and incentives stand out as good practices to replicate. The project significantly implemented successful capacity building, which led to increased information sharing and the development of draft laws on environmental protection.

Le positionnement de la FAO au Tchad sur les grands domaines prioritaires du pays lui confère d'emblée un avantage comparatif certain. La FAO est fortement présente au Tchad et occupe une place centrale dans la coordination des actions dans le domaine de l'alimentation et de la nutrition. Les projets d’urgence dominent le portefeuille, au détriment du développement des chaînes de valeur et de la gestion des ressources naturelles.
