From April 20 to 23, cannabis-themed entertainment, activities, and complementary experiences will be showcased throughout San Francisco for the second annual “Evergreen San Francisco” festival. Catering to the canna-curious as well as the canna-enthusiast, Evergreen San Francisco invites visitors to discover the creative California cannabis landscape.

The 4/20 event is now budding beyond just the mobs of stoners at Hippie Hill, as the SF Chamber of Commerce is throwing cannabis events to draw the more upscale tourism dollar, and several dispensaries equipped with smoking lounges have live music, DJs, or comedy scheduled if you prefer a mellower scene to the large crowds.
The end of April is almost here, bringing with it longer days, plenty of sunshine, and a very California holiday celebrating the humble plant that boasts as many nicknames as it does misconceptions. The big, annual party celebrating 4/20 at Golden Gate Park’s Hippie Hill is back after two years of forced cancellations.
The Hippie Hill gathering is just one of many cannabis-centric festivities included in a slate of weed-related events that are being promoted under the banner of Evergreen San Francisco.

In a sign of how far cannabis has come, the event is sponsored by the city's tourism board. A new, multi-day marijuana festival is coming to San Francisco this month. In a sign of just how far the mainstreaming of cannabis has come in the country (or, at least, in California), the 9-day festival focuses on bringing tourists to the city to experience its cannabis culture.
“If I was a sportscaster, this would be the week before the Super Bowl,” says Leafly Senior Editor David Downs about 420. This year is particularly special for 420, which is coming up fast. In brighter Bay Area news, San Francisco is throwing an official 4/20 celebration to “elevate and highlight the history, equity, and value of the cannabis industry and cannabis tourism in San Francisco.” Evergreen San Francisco—produced by San Francisco Travel—will showcase the city's cannabis lounges, dispensaries, attractions, munchie destinations, nature hikes, and immersive art, including an all-day concert on 4/20 at Golden Gate Park’s Hippie Hill.
