Kristen Pol (she/her) We can do an update on the abandoned project adoption

2️⃣ Project readiness to Drupal 10

Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) See progress at https://dev.acquia.com/drupal10/deprecation_status/charts
Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) 72.4% of the top 1k projects are ready at least in dev now 🙂

3️⃣ Abandoned project adoption updates / discussion

Gábor Hojtsy (he/him) Proposed by @Kristen Pol (she/her)
Kristen Pol (she/her) I’ll bring up the spreadsheet in a few minutes… gotta get to computer
ccjjmartin I was curious as to what the steps were for taking on one of the projects in the spreadsheet.
Kristen Pol (she/her) Sorry... just getting to computer... @ccjjmartin I'll answer in a few minutes
Kristen Pol (she/her) I just was in the spredasheet and it still needs some cleanup / updates (which I'll continue in a few minutes) but definitely made some progress and particularly want to call out @heddn for getting so many over the line already :tada:

Kristen Pol (she/her) and @VladimirAus
Kristen Pol (she/her) @ccjjmartin If you are willing to help with any of these, review the list in the spreadsheet as to what still needs "adoption" and looking at the steps on the first tab... people just adopt what they want and feel capable of testing/reviewing/merging
Kristen Pol (she/her) I'm going to continue updating the spreadsheet and going through comments
heddn After doing a quick sanity check, I opened up an issue to get co-maintainer as my first step. It is the step that has the longest tail on it. Also ping maintainers via private messages at the same time. This is a quick summary of how to get a module across the finish line. But the steps in the one tab are super helpful and should be followed
heddn Assuming you've picked a module to work on. I also tended to pick modules that I could sorta justify clocking some time to a client. Meaning, they have the module installed and are going to need a D10 version in the next few months.
heddn Overall, requesting access was fairly well received. The only module I got push back on is #3344313: Offer to co-maintain Brightcove Video Connect. Where one dev added me. Then another removed all my project access. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do there.
dww I just commented in the sheet to raise my hand for taking responsive_menu -- using that on a site that wants me to work on an upgrade, so I'll hopefully be able to crank it out quickly with some funding...
Kristen Pol (she/her) Thanks @heddn for the details. Sorry to hear about brightcove :woman-shrugging:
Kristen Pol (she/her) @dww I'll assign that one, thanks!
Kristen Pol (she/her) oh, you did :+1:
dww (I've got no perms in the sheet -- just added a comment)
heddn I helped
ccjjmartin Ok, so for anything on this list we are needing to get maintainership of the module, not just create an issue and upload a D10 compatible patch?
heddn @ccjjmartin everything helps. but co-maintainership is very good to get the patch over the finish line.
Kristen Pol (she/her) @dww if you want edit perms, just request and I'll add
Kristen Pol (she/her) @ccjjmartin Yeah, to be clear, the focus of this "sub initiative" or whatever you want to call it  is to "adopt" unmaintained or under-maintained projects to get them over the line
Kristen Pol (she/her) but we definitely still love help reviewing D10 compatibility issues and getting them to RTBC
ccjjmartin I think I misunderstood the goals, thought it was to get issues to RTBC state.  Thanks for explaining.
heddn we've got lots of issues in RTBC. just no one to commit them :disappointed:
heddn there's still more that needs to be RTBC, ergo every little bit helps. but in this case, we want to go a bit further and request ownership of the module so we can keep it alive in D10
Fathima Asmat I just left a comment on the sheet for co-maintaining view_unpublished module at least for merging the D10 compatibility patch 🙂
Kristen Pol (she/her) @Fathima Asmat thanks!
Kristen Pol (she/her) Note, I've added some more columns:Deprecation tool page/link (Acquia)D10 Release (version)Last Updated/Checked (which is what I'm doing now)In doing this, I did find a few had dev releases available so I noted as such... not done with filling in but should be all done in a bit
Kristen Pol (she/her) I noticed that @markdorison (and maybe others) linked the "offer to co-maintain" issue to the META for the abandoned project adoption sub-initiative which is a great idea... I'll add to the steps :+1:
Kristen Pol (she/her) okay... I'm going to get out of the spreadsheet... I went through all comments and addressed or commented... thanks, all :+1:
Fathima Asmat Update: I have requested for co-maintaining view_unpublished #3345720: Offering to co-maintain view_unpublished @Kristen Pol (she/her)
Kristen Pol (she/her) Nice :+1:
shelane I can’t find my bookmark to the spreadsheet. I feel like it should be pinned here.
Kristen Pol (she/her) Good idea… internet is down so I’ll try from phone
Kristen Pol (she/her) I just pinned it I think

4️⃣ Thanks all for coming, see you in two weeks!
