My journey in medicine and public health has been fueled by a passion for addressing complex health challenges, particularly advanced HIV disease, epidemic preparedness, and non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Over the years, I have honed my skills in data entry, technical report writing, and customer care while becoming proficient in English and Swahili, with intermediate proficiency in French. Currently, I am actively engaged in qualitative research and public health projects, aiming to create meaningful, evidence-based interventions that improve lives. My professional journey began with a strong foundation in medicine, where I earned my degree and developed clinical expertise. Early in my career, I realized my calling extended beyond individual patient care to addressing systemic health issues. This realization led me to public health, where I have contributed to various impactful projects. I have been involved in developing and implementing tools to improve healthcare delivery, focusing on quality improvement and adherence to best practices. My responsibilities have included conducting audits, reviewing verbal autopsy interview data, and accurately assigning causes of death using ICD-10 guidelines. I have also trained interviewers and coders, ensuring data accuracy and consistency. In addition, I have supported strategic initiatives to enhance healthcare services for people living with HIV (PLHIV). My work has involved mentoring healthcare providers, ensuring alignment with national and donor priorities, and providing technical support for differentiated service delivery models. I have facilitated clinical management of PLHIV and spearheaded interventions to improve viral load monitoring, adherence counseling, and high viral load case management. I have also overseen the quality of services across prevention, treatment continuity, and tuberculosis (TB) care. This has included coordinating quality improvement activities, ensuring viral load testing coverage, supporting early infant diagnosis (EID) programs, and collaborating with various health departments to strengthen service delivery. Additionally, I have provided technical assistance for community outreach programs, particularly in TB knowledge dissemination and awareness. My academic journey reflects my dedication to continuous learning and professional growth. Currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Health, I am delving deeper into areas such as health systems strengthening, epidemiology, and qualitative research methodologies. This advanced training equips me with the tools to address pressing public health challenges effectively.
