New shading?

So it's been a long time coming, but I'm going to start using a new shading technique! So after coming up with many different kinds, and eliminating them one-by-one, here are the last two, and I would love to hear some critiques and suggestions.
Keep in mind, these two emotes have different shading from each other...barely, but still different, so I'd most want to hear which you prefer, and then how to improve it :- )
