This card has been personalized on the front using mica glitter.
Once common in the early years of the 20th century, its use was eventually banned by the U.S. Mail after a postal worker cut himself on the sharp edged sparkles, and lost a finger to infection.

Reverse text:
Dear Sister How are ye.
We are all just fine after 4 days of steady snowing.
It melted nearly as fast as it came down till this morning
when it turned most awful cold and laied [sic] 6 inches of snow by tonight.
