Because OMtG always makes me want to do little PMV's..... Sigh....
Background from here: [link]
here's the rp:
Swiftjay watched in horror as cats dropped dead like flies, her blue eyes sealed shut and prayers constantly being spewed from her mouth. A part of her mind told herself it was useless, Starclan had made a mistake with them and there was no hope but she pushed that deeper and deeper down. Her fur was course and dry from not having any nutrition, along with her bones being visible. Everyday anger built in her stomach, these cats didn't deserve this. Why did they have to suffer? Why couldn't it be the twolegs? They were always destroying things that didn't belong to them. The cats didn't do a thing to deserve such pain and misery. Swiftjay had seen not only her friends die but her mother and father. A sight that left her shaking and crying in the night. In the end they had curled up together and starved to death. The small blue warrior couldn't do a thing to stop it.
Stripedash took a leap in front of the two she cats and his hackles raised as the ground in front of them shook. Somewhere he knew the ground was collasping. That was the very reason they where still here in the first place. They had been trapped here.... what if this meant someone else was now? "We should go check it out. you gals ready?" he asked, but his hackles stayed up and he remained tense. EVen if he was the youngest in the group, being a male he was probably the most muscular, strong and largest. if he wasn't, well darn he sure acted like it.
Small and timid, the blackened she-cat flinched as the ground began to shake, trembling beneath her already shaken paws and bringing her to her belly as she crouched down in fear, ears flattened back and eyes squeeze firmly shut. She wrapped her white tipped tail around her thin body, as if it would somehow protect her. If she could have found her voice, she would have screamed, but fear and anxiety had a firm hold on her vocal chords. The sound of collapsing earth filled her ears, invading her mind and planting horrifying images behind her eyes. They were going to die – there was nothing else for it.
A sudden breeze ruffled her fur as something jumped over her. Despite her crippling fear, Ashfeather cracked open her eyes, their color bright blue and startling against her dark pelt. In front of her stood the familiar figure of her brother, his position defensive and intimidating.
“I’m alright, Stripedash!” the little she-cat gasped, finding her voice as she called to her brother. “I’m alright…I’m alright…” She repeated the words a few more times as if to reassure herself before getting shakily to her paws and nodding to the tom. “W-we’re going to check it out?” she repeated nervously, shuffling her paws. “W-what if…what if it’s something dangerous?” she whispered frantically, not all too keen on going towards the cause of the commotion
Swiftjay turned to see the figure of an old friend, Stripedash. She was glad the the tom had survived, he was a good cat. The thick she-cat walked over, Swiftjay wasn't fat at all but she had big bones so even though she was skinny she retained a big frame. Her blue eyes turned to Ashfeather behind Stripedash, she had never really spoken to her but the small feline seemed terrified, though she was too. The blue warrior ran over to Stripedash and meowed, "Where are we going?" The snow was pelting her and making her almost numb, "We can't stay out here too long." She was always worrying and trying to get to safety. The snow was so thick that she was sinking, causing her to have to step back and forth.
Stripedash turned to face the two she cats he had lived with since the tunnel had closed in behind them. They where skinny, as was he. Skinny and hungry. "Exactly. In all the time we have been stuck here it hasn't caved in, so I'm guessing something happened. Besides it's no safer here and theres no food. If theres a cat in trouble you can bet where gonna go help them. . . and if not cross your paws and pray its a new opening to the outside world so we can find some food... or water." He meowed, taking charge and making sure he didn't yowl at them. he had a tendency to do that... when he got scared or tense like he was now he just lsahed out at those closest to him.
Still, protectively he took a few tentative steps forward before feeling safe enough to just pad in teh direction of the noise. he kept his shoulders and chin up, pretending he was confident. If he wasn't he liked to think that if he pretended it long enough he would feel it.
"I'll protect you two so just follow me."
The small she-cat furrowed her brows anxiously at her brother’s reply, not feeling all that reassured by his words. Just looking at him made her worry even more, his frame no longer as sturdy and strong as it had once been, but skinny and starved. Yet even so, there was strength in him – a strength that promised determination and survival. Ashfeather nodded to him, silently agreeing to follow where he went. Another’s voice suddenly broke the silence though, causing the young feline to flinch once again. Her bright eyes fell upon another she-cat, her pelt blue and marked with captivating swirls. Ashfeather blinked, taking in her appearance with envy.
‘My pelt’s nothing by a plain color…’ she thought sadly to herself, looking away to focus on her dark paws instead, still shuffling them against the hard ground. She shook off the feelings quickly however, glancing back by as she realized with a jolt that this she-cat seemed to know her brother. Ashfeather looked her over again, recognizing the bluish coat and pretty eyes. She had seen the feline hanging around her brother before, but as shy as she was, Ashfeather had never spoken much to her.
As she padded after Stripedash, pressing close to his side and doing her best to keep up, she couldn’t help but continuously glance at the other she-cat, curiosity mixing with a slight envy. She walked in silence though, too nervous to utter a word, let alone give a smile to the semi-stranger.
“Brother,” Ashfeather suddenly whispered. “You don’t think it could be something harmful, do you?” she asked again, still nervous despite agreeing to follow against her better judgement.
Swiftjay padded after the two siblings, pain striking her heart...her mother had been expecting another litter when she died. The blue she-cat could've had siblings had Starclan not turned their back on the clans. The anger in her stomach was building up again, she couldn't cry...not now. These cats needed to think her as being strong, otherwise they might just off her right here. It would save them the trouble of trying to feed another mouth. Her blue eyes scanning the ground as she tried to gain her focus, she would be strong for herself. Absentmindedly she had been staring at Ashfeather but didn't know how to say hello and break the silence. "Umm I..I know your brother. My name is Swiftjay." Her face sad yet glad to have broken the silence.
Stripedash sighed, was this really the time for introductions? he kept his mouth shut though, knwoing the two she cats where probably trying to calm nerves more than sit down and get to know one another. They could do that when they where safe and had food in their stomach.
Instead, he replied to Ashfeather's earlier comment. "If it's dangerous I doubt it would have come crashing in to the tunnels like that." he meowed, though that answer wasn't a definate no to it being something bad. For all he knew it could be some hungry predator happy to have it's meal come to it... But in this struggle he doubted even a predator would be well fed enough pose a threat against three cats. Even if they were on the frail side.
The small black she-cat blinked in surprise as the other female introduced herself. Ashfeather stared at for a brief moment, repeating the name in her mind so as not to forget, before giving a shy smile and glancing away.
“I-I’m Ashfeather…” she mewed quietly in reply, finding it difficult to find words when she was so nervous from a mixture of shyness and anxiety for what lie ahead. Each step seemed to bring them closer and closer to whatever it was that caused such a tremendous noise, and no matter what Stripedash seemed to think, his sister was convinced only something large and dangerous could have made such a ruckus. But even so, she followed obediently, keeping close to his side and trying her best to ignore her heart’s rapid beating and the prickle of fear that had seemed to be spreading up from her paws.
“I hope you’re right, Stripe…” she mumbled under her breath, dew colored eyes darting every which way as they walked, their pawsteps muffled against the dirt. She stole another look at Swiftjay, and her heart plummeted - the she-cat looked just as fearful as she was. Ashfeather bit the inside of her cheek nervously, somehow not reassured by even her brother’s presence. Ever since the tragedies had struck the clans, she had been on edge and constantly fearful. By some miracle she and her brother had both survived, but even so, she couldn’t help but feel uneasy by it all.
Swiftjay listened as her companion introduced herself, she seemed just as scared if not more than herself. The blue she-cat sighed and tried to focus on something other than the pounding in her head, which was her heart beating. The silence was deafening, almost even to make a cat insane. She could hear her teeth gritting against each other, the snow crunching along with the blood coursing through her ears. The she-cat was embarrassed by every sound thinking that the others could hear it. She quickened her pace and tried to figure out what was up ahead, she could be daring at times but only in moderation.
Stripedash gave a little chuckle, but it was a dark one. Them? Fine trouble? That would be like finding light in the sun. You could look for it or you could realize that you where surrounded by it so each seperate ray was simply a larger part of the whole. They where in a snowy hell. it was a surprise they had lived this long and so facing some sort of danger seemed to have the same ending as them not.
Still, he didn't worry. It wasn't that the was confident though he just gave up on caring whether he lived or died long ago. Anyone looking at this mess od death and tragedy could see any ancestors looking down at them weren't helping. They just did the best they could and then they would die one way or the other and figure out where one goes when Starclan has most assuredly abondened them long ago.
That was when he saw the light, and snow, coming in. "This way." He said flatly, but he wasn't without care towards his companions. He let his fur crush against his sisters and let his tail flick to Swiftjays side as comfort for both fo them. he'd die protecting them for sure... because at least that was more honourable then freezing to death alone.
That's when they came to the huge cavern... and instantly Stripedash could see that the roof had caved in the middle. There was a gape, but it wasn't reachable. Stripedash growled with teh frusteration of knowing they wouldn't be leaving these tunnels just yet.
He started padding towards where the snow came in when he heard a sound. "Don't eat the snow, it's cold enough that it will only make you more thirsty."
He whipped around to see a golden tabby laying on the ground. Shit, if she was alive that was worse... although it did explain what made the roof fall.
"Who are you." he growled.
"C-Copperstreak. I live with whats left of the clan cats. I fell in, but but I think i'm ok if the kits are."
Even more damnable. She was pregnant... and more would surely be coming to help her. Of course, he didn't fully trust what she said, simply because him, Swiftjay and Ashfeather where clan cats and he knew fell well there where not other survivors. They where all dead. He had seen their lifeless bodies, and seen the scavengers feast on their bodies.
Ashfeather gave a little squeak as her brother directed them further along, his voice sharp against the silence. She glanced at the bluish she-cat, but quickly looked away as Stripedash pressed against her for reassurance. She let out a sigh, sure that if he was with them…perhaps they’d be okay. Yet still, her paws seemed to prickle with anxiety, and her crystal eyes seemed to blink less than they usually did, wide and darting around restless. The longer they spent within the tunnels, they less she liked them.
‘And after a crash like that, I definitely don’t like them much,’ she added within her own thoughts, nervously looking at Swiftjay again. She was just about to open her mouth to timidly speak to the pretty she-cat, but the sound of an unfamiliar voice immediately stopped her. Her jaw snapped shut and she peered around her brother. The light reflecting off the bright white snow blinding the dark she-cat for a moment, the gaping hole in the roof of the tunnel letting it all in along with a chilly breeze. She squeeze her eyes shut as the colder air wafted by, bringing with it the fresh scent of the outside world.
The little black feline let out an audible gasp as she opened her doe-like eyes again. They fell immediately upon the figure in front of the group, a larger she-cat with striped markings and a slightly extended belly – she was pregnant. Ashfeather merely stared at her, unaware Stripedash had growled a less than friendly greeting to her.
“C-Clan cats?” Ashfeather suddenly blurted out, coming to her senses as her mind processed the words the stranger had spoken. What did she say her name was again? Copper…? “T-there aren’t any…you’re lying,” she mewled in a small voice, taking a small step backwards behind her brother. She glanced once again at Swiftjay, as if pleading for her to tell this stranger the fate of the clans. But then again…perhaps there was hope.
“Right…Swiftjay? There are no other clans…right? Brother?” She seemed to be turning her gaze from one to the other, uncertainty in her eyes, and a miniscule bubble of hope forming in her heart.
Swiftjay followed the two siblings into the tunnels further, it seemed strange that they were going this way. It would just lead them into the clan further but it had been the direction the sound came from. So silently she followed until they came to the area where the snow had collapsed in, to find the pregnant she-cat lying there. "Are you ok?" she walked over and smelled her but the scent of dead cats was overwhelming. Swiftjay had to fight the tears from the awful smell, "Let's move you out of the direct cold." She propped up the pregnant cat and hauled her over to the warmer part. Her blue eyes scanned over her, "You mean...that there are others from the clan that could've survived like you?"
[12/07/2013 8:05:09 PM] Kazia: Stripedash's hackles raised as he watched Swiftjat go up and help the cat, pregnant or not. Unlike he and his sister Swiftjay seemed quick to trust in how she seemed not to be as skeptical about the she cats stories. If they weren't within hearing range of possible others... He'd have chewed the older then himself she cat just for doing that. They didnt need kindness, it would only slow them down and trusting this tabby she cat could only do just that.
"Ashfeather, you stay with me." He meowed under his breath, not taking his eyes off the stranger and yet alert to the opening in case she really did have survivors who would come to this scenario and probably think the worst of them.
----
"Not form a clan... just a few from each clan." Copperstreak meowed, glad to ahev teh help of one of them. Their scent was musky, very much like these tunnels so she guessed they had been here a while... At least ti was warm but she could see from their pelts that it lacked in food at least. . . and from teh way the tom had gazed at the snow with such desire she would guess it lacked water as well... which was not good if she seemed to find ehrself trapped here.
"Thats how we all survived... Brineclan took the least damage so any that survived found their ways their and we could huddle together for survival... till this huge blizzard came. no one could go out in it and yet we had no food either. So I took our strongest warriors out to hopefully bring something back... anything really."
