If you've read What is URDP?, now you've probably got some questions about the specifics, and maybe what goes on behind the scenes. We've got answers to all the basic questions we can think of here, and we'll add to it as more are revealed.

If you have any remaining questions after reading through this FAQ, please don't hesitate to note us.

Who can get on the Randomization List?

When we say "all-gallery, every-deviant project," we mean it! Whether you're brand-new to the site or you're a ^, we want you in on this. We've got vector artists chatting with plushie makers and graphic designers hamming it up with painters, and it's frankly a riot--you don't want to miss it!

How do I get on this month's Randomization List?

First, add the project to your watchlist. This isn't so that we can have lots and lots of watchers--doesn't make a difference to us!--but so that running the project is as easy as possible for everyone involved.

As such, if you do not watch the project, we will not add you to a Randomization List. Why? If you ask to be added early in the month, there's a good chance you will have forgotten about it by the time we randomize the list, which is unfair to whoever is paired with you. Requiring you add us to your watchlist makes this less likely to happen. We promise not to flood your inbox.

After you watch us, we'll watch you, and you can go ahead and do the next step...

Send us a note with the subject "[Month] List" (such as "June list") with the message "I want in!"

Important note: Names are collected for a month's list to be randomized at the beginning of the month following it: meaning that the May list is open during May, but it will not be randomized until the beginning of June. The monthly list closes at 11:59 PM Mountain Standard Time on the last day of the month. So all deviants who wish to be Randomized at the beginning of June must send in a note for the May list before 11:59 PM on 31 May. Make sense?

I was on last month's list, and it's the beginning of the month now. How do I find out the name of my RDS partner?

Since you'll be watching this account, you'll see the journal with the new list in your message center, plainly marked so you know what it is. See how nice and easy that makes it?

How do you randomize the list?

The usernames of all the deviants who get in on monthly list are put into an online randomizer. Then we just shuffle things around several times, and the Random Deviant Sets take care of themselves--we pair number 1 with number 2, number 3 with number 4, and so on.

What if there isn't an even number of names on the list?

We've got a super secret deviant who is there for just that reason. If we need an extra name to even out the pairs, we throw them in.

My RDS partner hasn't contacted me at all. I am so very sad! Whatever shall I do?

You shall note us right away. We shall certainly take care of that and get you a new partner. They shall be awesome.

Other Questions

Who runs the project?
=ehmaysink started it, and currently runs it. You can call her Jay and note her if you want.

Can I make something for the project, like a stamp, for instance?

HECK YES! Be sure to note us with a link to your handiwork so we can show it off, you community-minded fiend, you.

Will the project be running any other events, contests, etc.?

We don't have any planned at the moment, but it's an awesome idea! If you've got anything specific you'd like to see, let us know.
This is the URDP FAQ. Read 'em and weep!

If you just want the basics on how to get on this month's list, here's the process in a nutshell:

1. Watch this account--make sure you're getting updates on our journals!
2. Send in a note with the subject "(Current Month) List" and the message "I want in!" before the end of the month.
3. Check the journal at the beginning of the next month, and you'll find your RDS partner's name!

Sweet. Action.
