I don’t know what he was thinking, but Skinsuit didn’t even try to dodge as I blasted him in the face with an Aura sphere. He went flying back into the house, and I leapt in after him. He recovered quickly, already on his feet and the burnt flesh of his face growing back, albeit without any skin.
“You’re becoming predictable, Skinsuit.” I taunted. “So long as I keep my distance you’re just another thug.”
“That’ssssss what you think!” He then pulled two huge ribs from his sides, brandishing them like dual greatswords.
He came forward swinging one, which I ducked under. He swung the other immediately after, and I blocked with a spiked bracer.
“Where’d you get these? From a Mammoth?”
“Try a Titan!”
He swung both downwards and I put up an Aura barrier. He started to beef up his arms, rippling muscles coming to the surface, and my barrier began cracking. It would have held out longer, but I had something in store. The barrier shattered and the rib-swords were stabbed into the ground where I was, but I had leapt forward and tackled Skinsuit to the ground! We rolled up to the wall and he threw me off.
“Die!” He came at me with a pair of jaw brass-knuckles and scored a good strike to my forehead that moved my hood enough to disrupt the Glamour.
“Sssso that’sss what you look like. Jussst as much a monssster as I.”
“So what If I am? Unlike you I’m a Hero.” I stated strongly. “Hey girl!”
“Here!”
She tossed a bone javelin to me and I charged it up with Aura. Skinsuit took one look at the glowing bone javelin and ran. He grabbed the nearest thing -the couch- and threw it through the street-side window. I went to follow, but someone threw open the cellar door.
“What’s all this racket?!”
“Mom, not a good time.” Anne said, climbing through the hole in the wall.
“Good heavens, Annette! What happened?” She looked at me. “You both better have a good explanation for this.”
Oh great, the angry mother. I excused myself from the house and left Anne to deal with this. Skinsuit had gotten maybe a block away and stopped. There was someone on the ground by him. Oh hey, that’s King, I’m sure he’s just unconscious. I took the javelin and threw it, but Skinsuit saw it coming and dodged. The javelin landed right in front of some unlucky pedestrian coming around the corner. Oh hey, that’s Danny!
“Hey Danny!” I yelled. He looked confused, and Skinsuit looked right at him. “That’s the guy who hurt Ein!”
Now he looked angry. He pulled the still-empowered javelin from the sidewalk and rushed towards Skinsuit. He then thrust the javelin into Skinsuit, while suffering a bone-spike to the shoulder in return. The Aura in the javelin flared up and shot out of Danny’s hands with a shrill whistle, blasting a hole straight through the villain! I leapt to the side and caught the javelin before it could hit any of the houses.
So, good news bad news. Good news is King is set to recover with almost perfect health. Bad news is Skinsuit escaped. He was aided by a Teleporter from Sugar Rose while Danny was tending to King -apparently he keeps a first aid kit on him-, and I was a tad too slow to help. Danny was torn up about letting him escape, but could sleep tonight knowing the shapeshifter would be off the streets for a while.
And I was stuck with writing up the report. Good for me I actually enjoy this sort of thing.
“So that’s your report.” The elderly female Justice Hunter commander stated. “You went out into the city via skyway.”
“Yup.”
“You tracked Skinsuit to one Annette Schamber’s house.”
“Mhmm.”
“And you threw an Aura-powered spear through his chest.”
“Well technically that was Danny.”
“You really need to stop watching Abridged Series’ if all your reports are like this.”
I grinned from ear to ear.

I sat now in front of the two greatest Villains, second and third only to myself. Behind me, my topmost underlings, and to my front an audience of every crook and criminal in a 3-state radius.
“This King’s Meeting is now in session.” I stated. “Do either of you have any opening thoughts?”
“I do.”
“Speak, Master Glyn.”
She stood, armor in order and cape flowing out of the throne.
“The Heroes have gotten braver. Their wounding of Skinsuit shows this.”
“Excellent point, but-”
“Skinsuit was a total coward.” Julius interrupted.
“Yes, as I was saying-” I started, only to be interrupted by someone banging on the door to the conference room.
“Hey can somebody get that?” Julius waved his hand towards the door.
The closest villain got up and went to open it, only to be blasted away along with the door. Einhard stood at the door with a battering ram. He stepped aside and let through a familiar scarred face. I stood.
“Corvid.” I growled.
“Willowdrake.” He pointed one of his sickles at me.
