My Bio

A Maker in the Making.
I've been creating since I was a child. I remember my Dad building or fixing anything we would need. And followed him around constantly. With him being my very first mentor and teacher I believe I got a pretty good jumpstart on it all. I've spent my whole life building, creating, and imagining what could be done. It was, and is my therapy.
I went to college for graphic arts and advertising. But didn't end up using that until more recently. From college I did a few different jobs, but the one I stuck with was upholstery. My Mother in law jumped at the chance to have me work with her. She taught me everything I know about upholstery. She is one of the sweetest lady's. Working with my hands and having a finished piece to be proud of brought me joy, and purpose. As time went by my work seemed to be missing an element somewhere. I studied furniture construction/framing and designed a few pieces.
Then for Christmas one year I thought It would be nice to make the extended family high quality belts for Christmas. Never mind the fact that they all ended up being slightly to small. We all still joke about it being a hidden message! Hahahaha.......anyhow......I kept expanding my ideas into the Leatherworking world and I really enjoy being able to not only build and create, but also include more artistic designing in the process. The complex pattern construction for furniture translated into leatherworking very well. I now use my graphic arts knowledge, and I even got around to designing and crafting a half size tufted wingback chair pretty recently. I was and am a Maker in the Making. Because I constantly try to learn how to do and make new things.
