New Position

Lloyd needed to advance in his life. Being a newsie, although fun sometimes, was no way to make money in the long term. He was told of a job as an assistant at one of the large estates in one of the more well-to-do parts of town and figured he would give it a try.

As he approached the grand estate, with its towering columns and manicured gardens, Lloyd felt a mix of excitement and apprehension. The job was to be the assistant of Lady Anders, a woman known for her lavish wealth and eccentricity. Even with this concern, the chance for a better job and life was irresistible.

Upon his arrival, he was greeted by Lady Anders' peculiar butler, who eyed him curiously. "You must be the new assistant. Lady Anders prefers her staff to fit a certain... image," he said with a hint of mischief in his eyes. Before Lloyd could question further, the butler whisked him away into the lavish interior.

Inside, the estate was filled with ornate furnishings and a elegant fragrances. As they walked through the grand halls, Lloyd couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. When they finally reached Lady Anders’ study, the lady herself was seated at a massive oak desk, surrounded by papers and ink pots.

"Ah, young man!" she said with gusto "I saw your application letter and thought you would be a perfect candidate for the position. Are you ready for the transformation?" She said inquisitively.

Lloyd blinked, confused. "Transformation? I just want to be your assistant."

Lady Anders chuckled lightly, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "You see, my dear boy, an assistant in your position must embody grace and poise. I have a rather unconventional method to ensure that."

Before Lloyd could protest, the room shimmered with a strange light. He felt a tingling sensation wash over him as if the very air was reshaping him. In a matter of moments, he stood transformed—not just in appearance but in essence. Lloyd had become a young woman, her hair cascading down in soft waves and her attire replaced by a stylish dress that contrasted sharply with his old newsboy rags.

Lloyd barely had time to respond as Lady Anders gave a mischievous smile "well Lloyd, or should I say Lily, I can safely say you look the part for your new role as my assistant, my maids will help you the rest of the way. I hope you will not disappoint."

The new Lily had to learn the ropes of her job which besides the expected secretarial work of taking notes, keeping lady Anders's itinerary, and sending messages, Lily had to learn how to be a woman, maintaining her hair clothes and maintaining a poise and elegance of a lady in the employ of lady Anders. To say it was a lot would be an understatement, but considering the type of woman lady Anders is, she kept her mouth shut. After all if she could transform someone that easily, what else could she do. At least professionally this was a vertical step up from her previous position. Lily could her Lady Anders call for her and sighed as a new day in her employment began.
