Cassie stood before the ornate mirror, the delicate lace of her wedding dress glistening in the golden light that streamed through the tall chapel windows. Her bridesmaids fluttered around her, adjusting the off-the-shoulder straps, smoothing the tulle skirt, and fussing over the pearls threaded into her loose updo. They laughed softly, the warmth of the moment enveloping them like a tender embrace.
“Cassie, you’re glowing,” one of them murmured, her voice thick with emotion. Cassie smiled, her hazel eyes shimmering with a mix of nerves and excitement. Poppy tightened her bag on her shoulders and approached him from behind, then slammed her hand on the table and looked down at him. He stops chewing and turns his head towards her, his eyes meeting her waist. His gaze followed her figure up to her dark eyes, which he gazed at in horror.
