3 – Meeting the parishioners
Sunday Service started at 10 in the Church of St. Agnes, half an hour earlier than in the church he went to before he moved. Robert didn’t mind, he was an early riser. He had to repress the idea of entering the church through the corridor and stepped out of his house to enter through one of the front doors. The back rows were already filled when he entered 10 minutes before time, so he found himself a seat at the left. The booklet for the Service was in colour and in a font which was easy to read, a service to the older parishioners, apparently.
The bell rang and the choir, consisting of 11 children stood up to sing. He listened to the young voices and immediately noticed they were good. But then his attention was drawn to Madeleine, who led the youthful group. She looked amazing in her long blue dress, even though he could not see her legs.
