I don’t know how long I was left alone, painfully tied to the chair, before my kidnappers returned, but it didn’t feel as long as it usually did. Had my ransom been paid? Was I going free?
I looked up hopefully as they both entered my prison.
“I ran a quick search, just to see if there was any news about our little captive going missing,” the taller kidnapper said, walking up to me. “Turns out, you’re worth a bit more than we had initially anticipated.”
