THE SORORITY'S SECRET (XWG)
Brianna adjusted her red devil costume—a curve-hugging dress with a short skirt and a pair of horns perched atop her flowing black hair. The fabric clung perfectly to her toned figure, honed from years of volleyball practice, and she couldn’t help but feel a bit smug as she strode into the sorority house. She’d seen some of the other freshmen picking out costumes at the campus Halloween store: cheap fairy wings, cutesy animal ears, glittery tiaras. Pathetic. Brianna was here to stand out.
The sorority house was draped in dark, gothic decor that transformed it into a haunted mansion. The entry hall flickered with candlelight from elaborate candelabras, casting long shadows that stretched across walls covered in cobwebs and faux blood. Girls milled around, most of them freshman like herself, looking wide-eyed and nervous. Soft, haunting music played in the background, underscoring the hum of whispered conversations and occasional bursts of laughter.
