When Your Alien Soldier Character Is Self-Aware
Vix Zanthomar looked down the scope of his sniper rifle, keeping a close eye out for any enemies trying to attack the important peace talks meeting. He didn’t seem to notice the assassin right behind him with a knife in hand. The assassin suddenly had a silenced handgun placed on their temple. “Sorry, I’m too important a character for the author to kill me off,” Vix said and fired.
It had been a few days since the successful peace talks had occurred. Vix exited a supply store and walked back to his parked hovercycle when someone backed up their vehicle, knocking the hovercycle over and smashing a mirror. Vix buried his face in his hand. He would have to speak to the author about this terrible running joke that the author was planning on using in his novel.

'They Sent Another One'
Vix Zanthomar didn’t seem to notice the silent assassin approaching behind him as he was reading. Suddenly, the assassin dropped to the floor dead with a laser blast in his skull. Vix put away his handgun and took out his communicator. “Yeah, they sent another one,” he reported, “I’ll need some help cleaning this up.”
Vix Zanthomar lay in a hospital bed and stared up at the ceiling. He couldn’t believe his luck. He had been on a mission in the jungle to scope out a secret hideout of a terrorist group. The military had received information, not only on the location of the hideout, but also that a high-ranking member of the organization would be visiting it. Vix was sent as part of an operation to invade the hideout and assassinate the leaders. While Vix had been in hiding during his role as a sniper, he was bitten on the ankle by a venomous reptile. Due to his intensive training, Vix managed to shake it off for the mission. However, by the time it was over, the venom had made its way into Vix’s bloodstream and began severely affecting his health. He was rushed to treatment at the closest military base.
Vix found it so unfair. He could handle things like torture and broken bones, but it was an animal bite that managed to incapacitate him. Vix was being treated by the mission’s
