“Well, now that the tents are set up, guess we can relax for a little bit before we go to bed,” Willy explained as he took a seat on a log near the fire. The five of them had been put into a group for this school camping trip. TJ wasn’t entirely unhappy about the arrangement. Willy and his friends were quite nice though.
“Hey man, let’s tell some spooky campfire stories!” Quincy suggested, plunking himself down beside Willy.
“Yeah, that would be fun!” Alyssa grinned and sat down on the other side of Quincy.
There was no more room on the log, and TJ preferred her personal space, so she took a seat on a log across from them. She had never told scary stories over a fire. Hell, she’d never told scary stories period. Or sat around a fire. With other people. With…. friends.
All these experiences I’ve never had, she thought, staring down at her shoes. Suddenly there was weight on the other end of the log and a voice sliced through her inner monologue.
